Twitter recently released a brand new feature called lists, which is saying a lot from a company whose main purpose is to keep things as direct and simple as possible. Lists are genius for their simplicity and power. Think of a list as a tag or folder to help you can organize your followers. For example, I have a folder for comedy, tech, design, c2gps, indesign and uwm.
To create a list, just log into twitter and click on “new list” in the right hand column. After entering the name of your list you can browse your followers and add each of them to any list that you like. If you come across someone who you are now following, you can add them to your lists as well.
Lists are a great way to see who other people are actively interested in. While some people may have thousands of people that are following, it is hard to see who are their favorites. When looking at someone’s profile I can see that they have a list of people that they took the time to organize, I can quickly browse and cherry pick the best tweeters to follow that share a similar interest.
